I’ve been watching a fair amount of Asian cinema lately. Mainly because I have an overwhelming amount of free credit to use up on aznv.tv and no funds to go to the cinema. So I randomly chanced upon a film last night called Shiki-Jitsu (translated as Ritual Day) by Hideaki Anno (known for his work on the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion). Its about a chance encounter between a dispirited man, and an odd girl lying on the train tracks, who carries out these erratic daily rituals. The seemingly insane girl intrigues the guy and he spends time with her trying to unravel the meaning of her disconnection from reality, as well as trying to figure out his own direction in life. The movie has intriguing contrasting characters, and ever so beautiful art direction. If you get a chance check it out.
Belka (Белка, literally, “Squirrel”, but as a dog’s name most likely means “Whitey”, from Russian: “белый″ (for “white”)) and Strelka (Стрелка, “Little Arrow”) spent a day in space aboard Korabl-Sputnik-2 (Sputnik 5) on August 19, 1960 before safely returning to Earth.

They were accompanied by a grey rabbit, 42 mice, 2 rats, flies and a number of plants and fungi. All passengers survived. They were the first Earth-born creatures to go into orbit and return alive.

What a wonderful idea. Below is a sproating business card for a landscaping firm.

Yeah the 960 Grid System seems a real comfortable web design size to work in. Divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 16, 20, 24, 30, 32, 40, 48, 60, 64, 80, 96, 120, 160, 192, 240, 320, 480, in other words its real flexible.
They just don’t make disturbed creepy childrens television like they used to.
Satan raises some valid points though doesn’t he?
Theres a whole subculture of photographers exploring the disused London tube stations and sewers, sneaking around like Ninja Turtles and giving us an intriguing glimpse into the underworld. Check out these sweet pics of Euston Stations Disused Tunnels by Robert Stainforth (love the posters).

Also take a look at the experiences of sewer dwellers SilentUK. I’m surprised nobodies bought these places up and charged for underground tours?
